As you love your dog and spent lot of time with it, you must have noticed some unique and distinguishing behaviour that your dog performs which definitely are not human. Regardless of weather these behaviours are revolting to you or just cute, these are definitely highlighted. Some common unique behaviours can be garbage raiding, grass eating, litter box raiding of cat, digging up your yard or tearing down your cushion. Some of these can be harmful to your daily life but they have special meaning and place in dogs.
These dog behaviours can tell you a lot of information about your dog and what is happening with it so you need to pay close attention to it.
When dog raids the garbage tin may mean that the dog is bored and needs something to entertain itself or the smell of food in the garbage is attracting the dog towards it as dogs are naturally attracted to the food smell. Or it might just be the unhappy gesture indicating that u haven't spent enough amount of time with it or haven't played with it. This particular behaviour may prove to be messy and unhygienic as dog would spend all his day exploring garbage tins. To avoid this mess keep the garbage tins out of reach of dogs, if possible in secure places. Before disposing any food in garbage wrap it in plastic to avoid the smell to attract dog. Possibly place your garbage tins outside the yard and make sure they are secured with lid.
Another behaviour that you will notice if you have cats as well is referred as cat litter box raiding. It might be out of our imagination why a dog would need to raid the litter box of the cat but it is sure unpleasant and should be avoided. The easiest solution would be placing the litterbox out of reach of the dog. It should be placed either at a place which is accessible through narrow opening apart from door which could be closed or at some high place where only cat can climb or jump to reach it.
Moving on to next unique behaviour of dog can be really annoying but it indicates your dogs health. A lot of times you must have seen your dog eating the grass of your lawn, sometimes u may have overlooked it or may be looked at it with curiosity. Sometimes you may have been unlucky to notice it and found out that you dog has threw it up on our carpet with vomit , and adding more to your disgustion your dog may start eating up the mess he threw up.
Dogs will eat grass when they have the tummy problem, when their stomach is upset due to indigestion or other digestive problems. The grass acts as an alien element to their stomach and the body throws it out with other undigested food or stomach juices.
